how many wedding pictures should i get ?

My approach to this is as follows -

I am basically there to shoot, in a way ,an archive of the day. All the stuff that i can see happening , i am always keeping my eye out for the art based documentary , but that is too many photos . the matsh of it , most weddings i shoot 7500 ish pictures. I then edit and select about 750 final images - This is your archive !

Say between 750-1000 wedding pictures is too many still , you cant show your friends 800 wedding pictures , they wont come round.

I would show your friends 90-100 pics ! even think that is alot !

The pictures i think should always show the spirit of the wedding and the perhaps the defining moments of the day , the stories. I like adding pictures to tell the story of the location, perhaps sometimes just colours or photographs to paint the landscape of the day. So you can recall in the future. Not the most obvious , not the most basic but the abstract , the artful , the flickers of the day that together paint the big picture.

Below i have posted 90 pictures from a wedding at river cottage.

Genuinely if a could pick a wedding to shoot for the rest of my life, over and over , this would be in the top 10. A&J were the best ! I mean that ! they were top of list of the cooliest pair :) total legends ( if your reading this guys XXXXXX)

So anyway thats what i think

shoot 7500

edit 750

you keep 750 but show your friends 75

look back at the other 675 on your 5 year anniversary :)

This is the 90 i would pick from A&J wedding :) it was great :)
