Analogue wedding photography 35mm weddings

If i can ill shoot 35mm at every wedding. What do i mean 35mm? im talking the old skool film canisters of film. Light making an impression onto light sensitive emulsion. It looks different , it feels different , it cant me emulated. There is a grain structure when shooting film that cannot be emulated by digital. You can get close and i have tried for a long time to get the digital work looking like film work and sometimes i get it nearly right. But , but ………… not very often Even the way you work with film is different to how i work with digital. Working with film is slower, more incidental , its one click at a time as opposed to shooting six frames. Its slower and more honest.

Its for the couples that want to remember their wedding with their eyes and minds and have a fab day and have a box of prints to jog and remind them of the fab day they had - as opposed to a wedding day being swapped for a photoshoot which is what often can happen.

I would shoot film at every wedding i can , i love the process. Sometimes its shooting a specific part of the day using film - for instance the confetti and keeping an event or a specific bit of the day for film and make a contact , an art piece for the wall. Something tangible , something to walk away from the wedding with under your arm. An original art piece that for years to come guests will study as they spot it in your house. I have included an image below of a single event contact sheet . Sometimes its combining some digital of the day but shooting a diary or a journal of the best bits of the day with film. Sometimes its worth reserving for the two of you and your pictures together.

I can have any work hand printed by master printers with my goal is always to be to get something original and unexpectedly beautiful and unique whilst making the process as honest and as unobtrusive as possible.

Below is a contact sheet shot on 35mm of a confetti line.

Below that is other pictures all various 35mm film and cameras.

Hope you love as much as me - Andy X ps #printisnotdead
