Super 8 wedding films
Super 8 is a great alternative to a full blown wedding film. They are a low tech version to record a wedding film but very genuine and very honest. Its something for me that i normally run along side of the photographs. So i shoot the photography and make this little film on the side. This is the case in the film below for sure. Its just short bursts of the most important bits of the day, little snippets that tell the story of the day. Little tiny seconds that at the end serve as reminder and a heirloom for you and yours. Its a great way to add on a bit of a film as well as some pictures.
This film i made with 2 x super 8 tapes giving me about 7 mins of footage to use and then i edited this short film for the guys as well as their photos it made a great package.
Cost wise it is £589 for a 5 minute super 8 film.
There are some things to bear in mind:
The facts of super8 -
each tape is 3 minutes 30 seconds ish long. ( so this means you have limted mistakes and tell the whole story of the day in that time if you only use one tape - i often suggest two)
Works best in brighter areas although dancing can look amazing if you use a little light on top of the camera when its dark - its looks ace.
Its not an exact science - it can go wrong. Once i have recorded it in a 1960s i have to post the film to london in turn they post to germany to be developed in chemicals and then back to london to get digitsed so i can edit it, its quite the process and lots can go wrong , luckily nothing has for me yet but it is a consideration.
Its a cool process though! and looks brill. This is what i chose for my wedding film, we gave a friend a camera and they shot us some clips using it, its very homemade but looks great.
It could be considered a cheap alternative to having someone else there for the whole day. I often shoot weddings on different mediums.
Its really timeless !
Who is this for ?
Not sure ! lots of people, i think certainly for the folks who dont wnat a big fancy wedding film its a great option. But it can be quite quirky and creative as well. To make a shorter more heavily edited say a 3 minute film - quick and really creative is a cool thing to do with this medium.

It seems strange to say that but i do have preconceived fears or ideas sometimes and often the film turns out like the wedding.
