Wedding photographer Oxleaze Barn

It was the hottest day of the year last year when i had a day of wedding photography at Oxleaze barn in the Cotswalds near Lechlade. It is a super good place for a location for wedding photography. The fun part of this wedding was the bride and groom asked me to shoot their whole wedding in black and white. Yep ! Their whole wedding photographed in black and white.

I had never done this before. I was really excited to shoot that day. As i said at the start it was one of the hottest days of the year so bright bright sun all day which gives the pictures a very contrastey look , very extreme, very black and very white.

One of the trickiest things was actually after the wedding , doing the selection of the pictures was hard. I first of all changed them to black and white and then started my selection and cull. The difference between black and white is the with a colour picture, the first thing you notice is the colour , with a black and white picture the first thing you notice is the image. So when selecting you have to look at every image to work out what is going on. I often shoot about 7000 ish frames at a wedding so going through and examining every image is super tricky in black and white compared to color. That was defiantly one aspect i hadn’t considered when doing this project.

Projects like this are really great for me. I work super hard to make them something really special. J&B had the most fantastic day, its a fab venue, just super lovely, great bunch of folks, guests , staff and suppliers, loads of genuine moments, it was effortless and funny. It was heartfelt and kind and beautiful :) I would love to go back shoot it in color or shoot a super 8 film - that would work really well. There is a great tennis court and wild gardens at the back that would be amazing in color.

I have picked 50 of the best self contained pics. They are just snapshots of the day, little moments, i also made them a little film too on the day and shot and delivered 800 ish pics. SO below is just a tiny bit of a fabulous day :)
