Debbie and Neil have an amazing set of friends and it was so great to spend a bit of time with everyone together. They had an incredible day, of fun, laughter and smiles. I am not sure they could have squeezed any more people in but they had a fab day I will often hear about how couples weddings are going to be different, I am not sure that differnet is the right adjective, I think what people actually want to say to I want my wedding to be awsome! Different is not nessarily awsome, often different just means they miss things out. Neil and Debbie got it just right, loads of good friends, loads of laughs and love and a pair that adored each other.

Neil and Debbie made my job easy for that reason, we just had to follow them about all day, they made their own pictures and memories for us to photograph just by being amazing all day. Really felt with these guys that they let their guard down and engaged with the day so wonderfully it made our job so easy

We had quite a lot of rain which was a bit annoying but we had so many locations inside we were fine Emma had met a lovely lady who owned a house near the church a few years ago and had done a photography project their. She had wanted to do some pics their as she loves the house so much and we had been invited so we could take some pictures there. It was a lovely house with some lovely light and colors even on a dull day. I love going with the strengths of the day and the low pastel light from the diffusion of the cloud makes a lovely look for the pictures.

We are very lucky to have such a variety of days and locations, this house was great and deffiantly a bit of luck with the weather that we had such an amazing place, although I am sure if it had been sunny the strength of that light may have produced a different set of pictures, not better – just different All the luck in the world to Emma and Marcus and little Harold their very nice little French Bulldog that went to the wedding too

I love hearing and then seeing the plans that brides have. Hearing them before the wedding and them seeing them on the day is two different things, its great when everything comes alive and the laughter starts and the music plays. Nat and Guy had created a beautiful summer atmosphere with loads for the kids, great food, lots of booze and then the sun came out With a bit of rain in the morning there were probably a few nerves as so much was outside but when the sun shone through the ceremony windows and the whole day went beautifully. A lovely couple, friends and family and lots of love and laughter on the day it was a perfect.

I love spending a day documenting a wedding like this, big shout to Barney as ever (a mix of our pics below), I am so pleased it went so well and hope the pics below have done the job of recording a day that I am sure a lot of people will remember for a long time lots of love to them XX

This wedding was defiantly full of action, mainly down to the 30 kids that were there. It was ace though, they all had a mad old time Its so nice to have the variety in the days that weddings give you. I think the most important thing to consider on the day is the strengths of the day. The things that define the day and to be able to identify all the way through strengths and the best bits is something I work hard to realize and take advantage of.

If it is sunny, we use the light, if its misty or raining -use that. The sky, the people, the trees , the candles, the light or the beach, to be aware all the time about the things that are going to tell the story is so important. Everyone at the wedding is going to have a camera and for me the challenge is to shoot a collection of pictures that not only tells the story but tells the story in a way that no one else is going to, that is my job

Big thanks to Barney as ever, a great day and was lovely to spend a day with the Annabelle, Dan, Lilly, Flora, Izzy and their family and friends

I love having a bit of time when we go to some of the further flung places to look about, I am appreciative of the opportunity of travel and to see places and to be able to shoot a wedding in these great places is an amazing thing. Places where the light, trees, grass, beaches, attitudes are different to the normality. Searching around for ideas and pictures that justify the reason we should be here – hopefully to take some pictures that are perfect for the people we are with.

It was amazing to be with Rick and Nat for a few days before the wedding and their families getting to know everyone.  It makes such a huge difference spending the time with everyone before the day. We had some great days before the wedding playing cricket, barbecues and early morning surf trips and the day itself was just as amazing, it was just a big party! with a wedding under a tree

We were shooting pictures for 3 or 4 days and have collected together a selection of pictures in no order as some of my favorites. Hope you like them, loads of love to the families and cant wait to see everyone again one day.

Loads of love to Rick and Nat, we spent a couple of days together at the end of their amazing honeymoon which included, Hawaii, sailing round Baja, LA & NZ , we had a fun day driving around LA when I was doing the Wedding in Santa Monica.

I love the studio but certainly lean towards the darker side of studio work. I find it difficult to make really interesting, high lit, breezy pics as I always convince myself they are dull. I love the low lit opportunities the studio gives where I can control all of the light. It is important to be able to high light and expose what you want specifically in the picture well and still use the dark to add to the overall image. These are just my thoughts obviously but I suppose my whole style as always been leading on a darker edge as far as exposure is concerned. I wish I could have the vision and creativity in the studio to make things more interesting but keeping it all bright but I do struggle and I suppose I don’t mind. I don’t spend too much time in a studio and like it when I do by keeping it dramatic and dark in a precise but dynamic way. I hope at some stage to spend more time in a studio environment but at the moment I am happy shooting most work and adventures on locations. This was a lovely day though and hope you like some of the pics

The job I give myself on a wedding is to shoot stuff that none of the guests are going to shoot. I love the fact every guest almost at every wedding has a camera. Hopefully it pushes the aspirations of the couples that book me to expect a genuinely different and alternative set of photographs from their day.  A set of pictures that only I can do, a reason to have me there and to create something that is beyond the obvious and that sneeks into something unique. I worry and I think constantly about losing a formulaic approach and to be aware and open to what is happening around me, the events and moments that make the weddings I do a into a theater with stories and split seconds of events that will be with the couple forever.

Nathan and Julie are a lovely pair who live in Calgary, Canada and they had brought their nearest and dearest to a small beach somewhere between Malibu and Santa Monica in California in the USA. As we gathered and Julie arrived, this little pocket of deserted beach stood still for a few minutes as they gazed at each other and had their few minutes together and made their promises in front of their families. I loved being apart of this day with them and hope I have given it justice Big love to them and their families and so much luck for the future and cat wait to hear your stories. X

We went to Dudley registry office which was an amazing building. Unfortunately it was one of the ones that point blank refused any pics at all during the service under any circumstances. Fortunately for the Jonah and Maria, as always, I never listen to this and shot the service with a canon G12 which has a silent capture so really pleased as its such a shame when they say no.

Anyway, was a fab day and so pleased that went well and we had a bit of sun Love to both Jonah and Maria and their families and looking forward to share their next exciting chapter with them all Big love XX

I took with me a Canon G12 and spent an hour when we arrived at Oceanside shooting a few pics after driving south from Santa Monica past Huntington and Long Beach. I loved using the G12, its something that I rarely do and reminded myself how cool it is to use a small camera that has no shutter noise to wander about and shoot some pics. I blended in so much more than if I was using a Nikon D3 my normal weapon Really cool reminder how easy it is to blend in and have people pay no attention.

I am really considering getting a smaller camera, something that lends itself to me blending in more. I am potentially thinking about the Fuji X-Pro 1 perhaps but certainly going to work a little more with the G12 before getting one. A camera is a passport, a passport to always have somewhere to go and a purpose to be there, I am looking forward to keeping this little beauty in my bag and see where we go together, it was a great little trip to start the day off. I love weddings (well actually they send me a bit mad) I will rephrase -  the thing I love about weddings is the fact its a theater of little stories and moments around me all day. Keeping my eye out for things happening all around, watching for the moments that will inevitably define the story when I am back on the computer days later working on them. I shoot a lot of frames at a wedding sometimes me and Barney can rattle off 7000+  but its important to shoot lots as you cant be sure until the event has happened if its going to be one of the moments that will define it. If you see it the camera you have missed it and also a lot happens in a second, I actually learnt both of these things shooting football for 5 years:) but its the same principle at a wedding.

It was such a great day and am so pleased I had the chance to be a part of it for Jess. She has always been very enthusiastic about my style so I knew I could do what I liked and shoot it undisturbed and try to push the boundaries a bit, Jess looked beautiful and was a joy to be with, its so obvious they adore each other and I wish them so much luck and good times in the future
