Weddings at Powderham Castle was the order of service this week . If your’ll Excuse the pun. It was the first time I had photographed a wedding at Powderham Castle in Devon so had been looking forward to it. Wedding photography in Devon is great down to the variety of venues and its always great visiting a new one. Powderham castle though was a little different to most. I loved it because it is not over crammed with items, there is plently of big wide open spaces. The stage was certainly set for an amazing day.
We were very lucky as well with the weather, strong sunshine played a great part in the day. All the way through dramatic light certainly added to the aesthetic of the pictures. From the getting ready pics all the way to first dance strong exciting light played a massive part in the day. It followed us around the castle and hit every room and every angle optimally all through the day. It was amazing to have luck all day with the light, often its not like that !!! , but sometimes you deserve a bit of luck and I believe luck is certainly apart of making your best pictures sometimes.
Emily the bride had talked about “Timeless” being a theme through the pics and it was great to get a bit of direction or a direction to lean on when shooting her wedding. The venue, dress, her look she had gone for worked really well together, Emilys dress was amazing, really modern but classic lines and simplicity with a definite flair made the use of the dramatic light look relevant in the pictures without it being over the top for the look or the situation. Everything complimented each other and hopefully this has come together in the picturesI really enjoyed shooting this wedding and the couple have over 900 photographs to look at when they get back from hooneymoon. I have selected my fav 70 ish pictures. I have picked some of the most striking images from the day mixed with a few that tell the story of the day and remind everyone what a good day it was in the heart of beautiful devon
