At the weekend I was very fortunate to be be able to photograph a wedding at Exeter Castle. Exeter Castle is a great venue for a wedding. I was very lucky to be the wedding photographer for this wedding at Exeter Castle in Devon. Being a wedding photographer in Devon is great for days like these.
I was very much looking forward to photographing this wedding for a few reasons, for one the couple Simone and Joe are fab, they had over 200 of their friends to Exeter Castle for their wedding after having a wedding in Simone’s native Australia a couple of weeks before. They had hired the whole place and its basically a blank canvas, 3 huge rooms and the choice to do what you like, regarding our own arrangements with food etc. It is very unique to be able to hire such a great place and not be restricted by their preferred ideas and suppliers etc.
A second reason why I was looking forward to this wedding was I knew I wanted to shoot a lot more of it in color. I rarely shoot anything in color but am enjoying it more recently. At the start of the year me and colleague Barney sat down and had a real think about which ways we could improve the business and the product we produce. I have recently been looking loads about on the internet and book/mags etc and have been trying to inspire a color thinking to the way I work. I hope this leads to being able to produce a better more exciting set of pics for the client while keeping my black and white work low lit and edgy as it is now.
Simone has bright red hair so I knew I wanted to deffiantly work in color and get a brighter look to the pics. I hope I have
anyway a good start for a couple of slight changes re post production a bit more work on presets and fine tuning a few things and hopefully can really push forward this year in improving the quality all round.
Below is a selection of about 80 pics there is another 700 ready now to send to Simone and Joe whom I wish the best luck to, they are both so great and so much fun, I laugh constantly in their company and hope very much to stay friends with them in the future
Anyway, thanks for reading this ramblings, would love a few comments on what you think if you have time, thanks

Seriously? You thought my hair was pink???? *rushes to the mirror, peers intently at reflection*
Great images as always Andy.
So many amazing shots, so many special moments captured. I love all the pictures of Simone laughing which shows her personality perfectly and the magical shot beneath the tree with the deep midnight blues.
Wonderful evocative images as usual Andy – well done!x
