Dartington Hall is great venue for a wedding. I love photographing weddings there. Dartington Hall in devon has a great variety of features which are unique, particulary a great outside set of stairs. As with all weddings I had done a walk through the day before with the couple. Every wedding I do if possible I like to do a walk through with the couple. Its great for several reasons. One of the main reasons is with my experience of wedding days I can make suggestions which will not change the day from a wedding to a photo shoot but still importantly get everything picture wise the couple want. Its really to a degree managing expectations of the couple and make sure I can get everything they want without ruining the day with too many pictures.
We can plan time frames making sure we think about the guests as well having a good time and taking advantage of every moment. A great example is the idea that I only really take the couple away from the guests once, at the point when the guests sit down to eat. For instance 100 guests may well take 20 mins to sit down and if we time it right I can have 20 mins with the couple doing some pics and then they walk down to a fully sat down room and the event is given an elegance as opposed to the couple waiting outside the room with everyone walking past them at that stage of the day.
We had a good plan for this wedding and the flow of the day and the pictures we managed to get really work. The walk though certainly paid off and hopefully his comes across in the pics. The couple Nick and Nicola were great and let us do what we wanted. For this wedding as normal was me and Barney but another photographer who I often work with also did the day with us. He is a great photographer who the same as me with a 10yr + press career behind him, you can see more of his work at http://mattaustinimages.photoshelter.com/
The couple were given over 800+ pictures from this wedding but here are 40 of my favs below, hope you like. -AG
