Sorento was the destination for this weekends wedding near Naples in Italy. Well actually it was in Positano ( the pretty little sister of the already beautiful Sorento.) If disney were to build a perfect picturesque little italian town then Positano would be that town. Cut into the hillside overlooking the med, 32 c, slight breeze, beautiful. The 30 hour return trip was not so much fun but driving in naples in the hire car was good fun. ( polite bunch of drivers the italians!!!)
The wedding was on a balcony at the local town hall and the couple and their 15 guests enjoyed a villa for the reception and had some amazing italian caters brought in to feed us in true italian style into the night. A lovely low key, close and personal wedding with the brides beautiful sisters and families thoroughly enjoying the holiday in the sun. It was nice shooting in bright sun.
The prefered style of most of my weddings is lowlight, with the british climate forcing this style slightly. I prefer low lite but occasionaly nice to have the vibrance of colours that med countries offer. Shooting in high light is definatly a skill which a lot of photographers take for granted. Jose Villa, Bambi Cantrell, Jonas Peterson, Jasmine Star all work really well in high light ( a lot because its where they are used to, australia, US etc) I often wonder how they would get on shooting a drizzly october in harrogote????
I enjoy the challenge of high light but it is certainly made easier by the vibrance of the colours all around you although still i feel black and white shines through as the winner. I hope you like this brief selection of pictures from the wedding. Such a lovely day …. AG
