Having come to the end of a busy wedding/commercial season I found myself this weekend with nothing to do. The first Saturday off in quite a while so I thought I would crack on with an idea that I have being thinking about. I have always loved subjects that I can photograph with black and white film photography and some dark room work I can create art based pieces and portraits that fit in together well. I had recently photographed a young model called Isabella where we had done some head and shoulders stuff for her TV and magazine show reels. I had shot a couple of frames in our white room of her in her ballet gear. Turns out she is an amazing ballerina!! She really is! So anyway we organised to meet again and shoot some stuff of her just doing ballet. We met at her studios and spent half an hour shooting some stuff.
Anytime I think of an idea of something I like to photograph it before thinking too much about it, I always think its worth just shooting a quick half hour of your idea to get an idea about the potential, sometimes its not worth pre conceiving an idea too much before actually shooting it. That first half an hour of experience is really good to walk away from, have some frames to work with on the computer and some ideas and images in your head to think about.
So this is my first half an hour, this is the digital work, I also shot some frames on HP5 35mm black and white neg which have gone to the lab today and I will put those up in the near future. It was great having free reign about this great studio, it has certainly given me some food for thought about further projects and work.
hope you like
